BCCII Community Funds

Funds of the Foundation

You are invited to join the tradition of extraordinary generosity by adding your legacy to those of others who realize the importance of a permanent community endowment.

Anyone can make a gift of any size to the Foundation. Gifts may take the form of bequests, charitable remainder trusts, appreciated assets, gifts of retirement plans, life insurance, or other types of planned gifts.

Many people set aside a certain dollar amount; others leave a percentage of their estate, or any assets left over after family needs are met.

If you would like more information about planned giving or any projects the Bird City Century II Development Foundation is working with, please contact our office at 785-734-2556 or send us an email to info@birdcity.com.

Designated Funds
A designated fund allows the donor to support the good work of their most valued qualified charitable organization. A donor may direct gifts to a specific charitable nonprofit organization—either for unrestricted use or with guidelines. One may designate funding to a senior center, museum, church, or any qualifying nonprofit charitable organization. The named designee is the sole recipient of all grant funding.

Bird City 150th Celebration Fund – This fund was setup to support the public and charitable entities in Bird City to host a 150th birthday celebration in the year 2035.

Bird City-Cheyenne County Clinic Fund – The clinic fund was set up to raise money for a new clinic in Bird City Bird. Donations will be distributed to Cheyenne County Hospital with BCCII advisory committee approval and must be used only for the Bird City Clinic.

Business Incubator Fund – This fund makes low-interest loans to small businesses in Bird City, either start-up or expansion, through a revolving loan fund.

Cheylin Early Childhood Development Fund – This fund established by the Bird City Century II Development Foundation, supports Cougar Cub Daycare operations through annual distributions based on the foundation’s spending policy.

Cheylin Little Learners Endowment Fund – This fund supports early childhood education at Cheylin USD 103.

Cheyenne County E-Community Fund – The E-Community Fund was established to support business development efforts in Bird City, St. Francis, and within the Cheylin community boundaries, with entrepreneurial focus.

Cheylin Schools Foundation Fund – This fund helps the school cover key expenses when budgets fall short, ensuring continued support for students and programs.

Thresher Association Endowment Fund – The fund was created to establish the Thresher Show Endowment, offering donors an additional way to support the Thresher Show. Grants from this endowment will help preserve and sustain the event for generations to come.

Donor-Advised Funds
The donor or donor’s family can have ongoing involvement in the use of the gift. The foundation works at identifying ways to use dollars from the Donor Advised Fund (DAF). This type of fund addresses the issues and needs the fundholder cares about most. Advisor’s recommendations are submitted for approval; we then distribute grant dollars.

C.W. & Sandra Antholz Fund – This fund is set up for charitable purposes as set forth in the Bylaws of the Community Foundation. The fund is intended to help the cities of Bird City and McDonald.

Helen Brubaker Immanuel United Methodist Church Outreach Fund – This fund was created to distribute for outreach projects identified by its Outreach Committee. Distributions require written approval from key church officers and supporting meeting minutes.

Robert Brubaker Family Fund – Robert Brubaker, one of the original founders of the Foundation, retired from the Board of Directors in 2009. To honor Robert for his years of service and commitment to the community, the Foundation Board of Directors established a Donor-Advised Fund in his name. Since its establishment, he and his family members have contributed to this fund to further support the causes Robert cared about most.

Jim and Cindy Leach Family Fund – These funds are available for distribution in line with the charitable purposes set out in the Community Foundation’s Bylaws. Distributions require written guidance from Jim Leach and Cindy Leach.
